Be Nice to the Man Syd

Last night we went out to dinner with Chelsea and her dad. Eric was passing thru here from the Orlando area, which is where he is from so he stopped to spend a little time with his daughter. He asked us if we would like to go to Mazzio's for dinner with them. He is a great guy. Eric payed the bill and my ever so who's paying conscious daughter, Taylor told Syd and I quote, "Be nice to the Man Syd he just bought your dinner." It made all of us laugh so hard. Syd was playing some kind of a trick on him. For those of you who do not know Taylor she can be rather hilarious at times. She makes me laugh hard quite often, and she comes up with things so quick. Here's another one from yesterday. Be prepared it is kind of disgusting also. Drew was talking about a book he bought at the book fair and it was a Have you ever book. It was on the way home from school and I had 2 kindergartners, a 2nd grader (Taylor), a 3rd grader, a 4th grader (Syd) and a 6th grader (Drew) in the van. Drew says "Have you ever peed in a swimming pool?" All the kids in the van say, "Oh man, NO WAY!!!! That is disgusting!" Everyone that is except Taylor. Her Response. " CH - Yeah, dude I do it all the time. Those bathrooms at swimming pools are nasty." I thought I was gonna die laughing. Drew was cracking up, I was dying and the others were telling her how disgusting she was. That's one good quality Taylor has, no shame in anything, she tells the truth. (Or is that a good quality????)

Today the girls get to go skating at 12:30. Every year they get a school wide skating party. I am driving some kids from Taylor's class and I am also gonna skate. I love to skate. I didn't get to last year because my leg was all black from a skating accident I had prior to the party.

Tomorrow we have basketball. Syd has a tournament in Alma, with her first game beginning at 9:00. Taylor has a 9:00 game at the Y. so our day will be filled with basketball. Everyone have a great weekend.

It is freezing here in Marshall. I'm ready for a sunny day, enough of this freezing your butt off. At 9:00 we are closing on our loan. We refinanced at 4.75%. Holy Cow, who would have ever thought that interest would drop that low.

Carefree

What a wonderful weekend. So nice to be able to do what you want. It was awesome. The rodeo was great, mom and Steve drove over and spent the wekend with us which made it even better. Mom and I went to Von Maur Saturday and had a girl at the Clinique counter give us makeovers. Wow!!, did we ever look great. Neither of us had ever done that before and if any of you readers are in the same situation I suggest that you go get one. Now, I am using colors that are right for me and I am applying things correctly. My foundation shade matches my skin perfectly, I am concealing what needs concealled. (I didn't think I had any of those bad spots, boy was I wrong) Why hadn't I ever done this before??? It's not like I never get to the mall. Check back tomorrow for a picture of my loot. Taylor thought that I looked so good that I should have taken a picute of myself to post on the blog. She kept telling me how good I looked and Taylor doesn't just hand out free compliments. We got home yesterday evening at about 5:00. I actually unpacked everything upon arrival and started to do my laundry.

It is catholic schools week so there is a dress up theme each day. Today they were supposed to wear their favorite hat and there favorite shades. A couple of cowgirl divas. Tay's cap has a bareback rider on it and it says 100% cowboy. I always tell her that I'm not sure why she was born with girl parts. I guess there are some characteristics that support the female way. She does have on cute sunglasses.

The girls improved again. Didn't win the game but they played great defense and they were guarding giants. Many, Many steal and tie ups, not a whole lot of rebounds, (go figure) or points, however they did make 1 more basket than last time and they only had 6 players, one quit and one was sick.

I am gona get that ball from you if it is the last thing I do. That ball is MINE!

   

We go to Higginsville tonight. The girls and I decided to stay in Marshall for Syd's game tonight and then we will leave tomorrow. One of the guys on the team is out in the Bronc Riding tomorrow and so we are hitchin a ride with him. Can't wait to leave town.

Very uneventful weekend

Say what! The Mason's acutally had a weekend where nothing was on the agenda. It was awesome. I went to the Y and worked out, went to church, dropped the kids off at the movie, dropped the kids off at a brithday party. We did go to the Hayob's for dinner and a stupid, very stupid movie on Sat night. One of those so dumb and vulgar movies it's almost funny. Stepbrothers, don't rent it unless in the mood for stupid funny. Our girls and Drew were downstairs playing Guitar Hero. Dinner was rabbit, rice, spinich artichoke dip and guacamole. To my suprise the rabbit was pretty good. The girls even liked it. I always love spinich dip and guacamole. 

This weekend we are going to Lincoln, NE. I am looking forward to escaping for a nice relaxing weekend. Well for the girls and I anyway. They will miss school on Thurs. and 1/2 day on Fri. (They get out early) They are going to swim for the weekend and are very excited about it. I booked what appears to be a fairly nice hotel downtown so I am hoping there is also some good shopping nearby. (Within walking distance would be great since us girls will have no wheels) I need some makeup and thought that  would give Clinique a try. I researched dept store makeup and I thought that maybe this brand would be a good one to try. It's one of the least expensive kinds. Please tell me if you have another opinion. I have been using Arbonne but I don't want to pay to renew my membership every year and the shipping is not cheap either. Please comment with some makeup advice if you have any. What is your brand.  Not use to staying in a decent hotel. If it doesn't say Super 8, Motel 6 or local ma & pa hotel then we usually don't get to stay there. Thurs is my husband's birthday so he has informed us that he is going to pick where we get to eat and he is gonna eat whatever he wants.  

The girls are off from school today for MLK day. Syd I'm sure is in on her computer and Taylor is wathcing TV in her room. Syd has BBall practice at 3:15 but other than that another relaxing day.

Construction/Organization underway

We are going CRAZY here at the Mason house. Ken has gutted our bathroom in the basement, he tore out the wall between it and the laundry room, and now well stand still. Waiting for money. If any of you have any extra that you aren't needing please send it my way:.) As for me, I tackled my desk. It is a roll top so I had crap piled as high and wide as I could and still manage to get the top shut. Wow what a feeling. It looks great, and I am sitting at the desk with my lap top for the first time ever. Who knows maybe I'll become super duper organized. You know the type that always does everything perfect, never screws anything up and never never forgets any appointments. Today we are gonna tackle the storage closet downstairs. UGH! It is horrific, it scares me so I don't even go in there unless forced to. I'm sure there is a ton of stuff to throw away in there, I just have to let go.

The weather is horrible here. Below 0. It's not supposed to be this cold!! I need some warm air. Not much planned for the weekend. I think we will go to Midway and watch the rodeo. Several of the kids on our team are entered. Tomorrow the girls have a b-day party to go to at the skating rink and they also have Monday off from school. A nice 3 day weekend for them, they are very excited.

Off to toss and organize. (I hope I stick with it)

Sorry about the no game picture thing. The coach asked me to keep score so I didn't take any pictures. Thought it might be kind of tacky snapping pictures from the scoring table. Anyway they lost again but this time scored 16 points, 12 of them in the first 1/2. It was a great weekend here at home. Saturday morning Taylor had her skills clinic at the Y for basketball. Then the girls went to Marley & Me that afternoon. I did laundy and straightened up my house. It is never ending when you burn wood. Messy, messy. Yesterday after church the girls had a friend over to play. They were all so good, they mostly played Webkinz and school. Ken made breakfast sausage with Steve in our garage last night out of deer meat and pork. They grilled up a little bit for sampling and it was great. Syd was having a bit of a stomach ache this morning. I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything. I made her go to school. I guess I'll find out later if I'm a bad mom or not. Evidently my everyday normal life is a little boring right now because I can't even think of anything to say. So I guess this is gonna be the shortest post ever and hopefully my life will become more interesting shortly. Or not, I could stand a little dryness for awhile.

Practice

I went to Syd's practice last night to watch and help out if needed. I am not the overbearing take it over kind of person but it appeared to me that Syd's coach could use some extra people to stand in when she is explaining things. She does a great job coaching but when you only have 8 players and only 5 of them show up for practice it is a little hard to teach anything.  Anyway practice went great and I think the girls that were there understood the whole blocking out concept which by the way was very hard for them to grasp. Not comfortable sticking their booty's into the bellies of others I guess. I was very pleased with Sydnee's behavior in practice. SHe hangs on to every single word her coach tells her and tries her best to put the plan into action. She also is one of the few who never complain about running. They do a lot of little competitive games and the losers run a lap. Sometimes Syd even takes off running when she doesn't lose. She is such a good kid and I am so thankful that she is so respectful to other people because many kids are not. (Now Taylor, that is another story:))

Still on the whole respect thing Monday evening I was at the Y and my kids went to a friends house after church to play. The mother pulled me aside and told me that she just wanted to let me know how polite and respectful my kids were. She said that she was very impressed with their manners. It always makes me feel so good when people tell me that. I'm not the type that thinks my kids are perfect but at least I can say they are very respectful when they are with other people but they are little devils at home. Someone tell me how I can get them to act like they do away from me when they are with me. PLEASE.

Syd got a computer for Christmas and the kid just amazes me. She is the type of kid that can do just about anything with technology and has been that way since she was about 2. I let her start playing those learning games on the computer when she was 18 months old and she could control the mouse good enough to play those games. Anyway she downloaded these little cursor deals and her cursor on her computer is Jesus playing basketball, instead of the boring little flashing line like I have she has a flasing Jesus dribbling a basketball. I did not know there was such a thing. The things you can learn from your kids. 

Basketball game tonight at Waverly. I am going to take my camera and try to get some action shots. Look for the outcome of the game tomorrow. Please let us make at least 1 basket.

Lazy Me

Someone please tell me how to get out of this state I'm in. I have started my exercising off good so far. Went to the Y Sun and Mon and am getting ready to go shortly when friend gets off work. She called last night to see if I'd wait til 11 for her. Sure the torture always goes faster when you have someone to talk to. I just do not feel like doing anything around my house. Can't get motivated. Someone please help. My house needs some serious organizing and I need to get going on it. After school yesterday Taylor, Kellen and I went to the Y.(Syd was at b-ball practice) Taylor and Kellen did the kids aerobics class and I logged in 45 min on the elliptical and then lifted with my legs. Taylor loves to go to the Y, so does Syd, so I'm lucky there. At least I'm not taking my kids kicking and screaming. Tonight is Syd's first B-Ball game. How exciting. I hope she doesn't get to nervous. I got tickled last night after practice. I said to her "Are you ready for the big game tomorow night?" Her reply "We are just gonna get beat we play Trinity." My reply to her "Big deal, who is Trinity anyway?" She had no clue. SHe had just been listening to the older girls talking about how great and big and tall Trinity was. I just had to laugh. I told her that they should not go into the game with that kind of attitude that they will get beat. Anyway tomorrow I will post some pics of her in her uniform, so cute, so you all can see her. I am the money taker at the game so we have to be there at 4:15. It will be a busy night, just the kind we like.

Sunday I went to Sedalia with my frien Cindy and we stopped at Starbucks. We had a peppermint latte and now I can't stop thinking about how good that was and how I'd love to have another. Cravings, they are horrible. We used to have a Seattle's Best Coffee shop here but I guess it is not open anymore. Bummer.

HUsband is at a cow sale today and is going to another tomorrow. He is trying to find some roping calves. The college kids will be back Thursday and they will probably start practicing in 3 weeks. Only 3 rodeos left this spring. The girls and I will only go to one. The very last one, unless I change my mind and decide to take them out of school for 2. If so we will go to the closest 2. I miss not being able to go to all of them, but it is hard for the girls to miss so much school. We love to travel and being left back in good 'ole MO stinks.
